ACNR Lake Victoria Bassin Project Video/LVB 2015 Final

The project entitled “Empowering local communities for the conservation and sustainable development of birds and biodiversity of the lake Victoria basin, the greatest of Africa’s great lakes”, funded by The Aage V Jensen Charity Foundation (AVJCF) through BirdLife International, was implemented in Rwanda (March 2013-December 2015) at Akanyaru Wetlands by Association pour la Conservation de la Nature au Rwanda (ACNR).

The goal of the project was to conserve the birds and biodiversity of the Lake Victoria Basin, and sustain the ecosystem benefits that its Important Birds and Biodiversity Areas provide for human well-being, by building and strengthening a network of community-based Local Conservation Groups in the area of the project implementation.

This Video produced; highlight background information on the project site at Akanyaru wetlands – Important Birds and Biodiversity Area (IBA) in danger, capacity building sessions undergone during the project implementation and insight from Local Conservation Groups (LCGs) working with ACNR.
